User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Easy to Load
This is the easiest photo frame for loading pictures. I just download to a flash stick, then insert it in the back of the frame and voila,…done. Highly recommend this product.

1 Stars not as bad as I thought
This thing is loaded….with problems, that is. First off, it freezes on certain pictures; eventually it moves on to the next picture, but it’s just annoying. The owner’s manual that came with it doesn’t seem to match the onscreen menu options nor the controls on the exterior. If you put a compact flash card in, if it’s inserted at the wrong angle, the card will miss the connector and slip inside the frame to be lost forever (until you smash the unit on the floor in frustration, that is). When loading new pics, I found that most of them would not load for some reason. Same exact problem on two different units (my mother and I both got one for xmas and both do the same thing). The Tech Service email address no longer exists. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Revised review: Initially I gave this a really bad review. Part of the problem was the extremely poor documentation that came with the frame, but here is what I’ve discovered since my original review above:

You really HAVE to use the software that you download from the site to ‘optimize’ your pics for this frame. You can’t just load a bunch of jpegs onto a thumbdrive and load them into the frame’s digital memory or you will run into most of the problems I detail above. Once I used the software to modify the pics to the proper ’size’, the frame stopped freezing on certain pictures for long periods of time and it stopped refusing to accept certain photos that inexplicably could would not show up once I thought they were transferred. This was my main complaint about this frame.

However, you still need to be careful if you are using the Compact Flash (CF) slot because as mentioned above you could easily miss the receptor and push your CF card inside the frame if you slide it in at the wrong angle.

AND for those of you saying you can’t get it to turn on: Keep in mind there is a manual on/off switch on the back of the frame itself that need to be turned on in order for the remote to work.

And of course the manual still doesn’t seem to match the on-screen controls nor the buttons on the frame itself that apparently have to be used in conjunction with the remote to delete pictures or change settings.

I would change my star rating above, but Amazon won’t let me do that, but at this point I would rate the frame 3 stars instead of 1.

1 Stars Smartparts doesn’t have confidence in its products.
This product worked great–for about 8 months. We purchased it for my mother-in-law’s 75th birthday, and she loved it–until it stopped working. It still receives power, but the screen won’t light up.

Anyway, the warranty was only for 90 days, but we have contacted companies before because of defects, and they replaced or repaired the product even though it was out of warranty. We contacted SmartParts Tech Support and we were basically told nothing could be done. The woman I spoke to stated that we should pay attention to the warranty length the next time we purchase a frame, and that she knew “it sucks”, but there was nothing she could do.

I have ZERO appreciation for companies who don’t back up their products, whether it’s in warranty or not. The frame has no physical damage, it’s obviously a manufacturer’s defect, and they quite frankly don’t care.

I give this product AND its manufacturer a Big Thumbs Down. Buy a different brand.

1 Stars Nice… Until it failed after 6 months of light use
The picture went bad after 6 months of light use… started blinking and everyone’s face turned yellow/orange. There is only a 90-day warranty on the frame.

1 Stars FILLED with Problems
I have been preparing old photographs for my parent’s anniversary for weeks, and was ready to load them into a beautiful digital frame. Bought this unit at local [...]for a very good price of[...] but the upload and operation was a nightmare. The unit just stopped mid-function, it shut itself off numerous times, and the remote was defective. This technology has been around for enough years that it ought to be a simple process and have the electronic bugs worked out. Not a great item. I can only image the problems my elderly parents would experience, and deny them the opportunity to enjoy years of old photos. I’m going to continue looking and find a better frame.
