4 Stars great item
This is a great frame, the only concern that we have is that you ahve to have a remote control to start the slide show of pictures.
5 Stars Awesome frame for the price!
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R21QLY6P4XLMV5 I have owned this frame for about a month now and it was a great purchase. What was at first just an impulse buy - the first thing I saw the day of my 2nd anniversary (yes, I procrastinated on buying a present until THAT day) - turned out to be a great product. I purchased it for $59.99, the cheapest photo frame that is actually big enough to display on a mantle.
It comes with no built-in memory. Fortunately, I already had a 2GB Compact Flash card which I was not using, so all I had to do was load up some pictures on it and - voila! All my pictures were automatically re-sized, I did not have to change the resolution at all.
Functionally, it could use some more features and provide better instruction, but I would expect being that it’s the most inexpensive LCD photo frame in its size. The pictures are easy to navigate through using the remote control, but it would be nice if there were a slot inside the frame to hold the remote. You can easily start a slideshow simply by pressing the AUTOPLAY button on the remote, which is very nice, but the show always starts at the beginning of your pictures and continues on in order. There is no randomization option. There is also something that puzzles me which I haven’t been able to figure out - the up/down buttons on the remote adjust VOLUME on the frame, yet there is no music or video playback, and there are no speakers. Nowhere in the manual does it mention VOLUME control, yet when I press the buttons on the remote, sure enough there’s a volume slider that appears on the screen. This product also does not have a sleep/timer mode (either on/off) so we just turn it on when we have company, and off when we’re alone, and there is no option for a battery, only AC power.
I am quite happy with this product. It does everything I need it to do and nothing more. I can simply remove the CF card from the frame, slide it into my CF slot in my computer, add pics, and put it back in the frame. It also supports SD/MMC/MS flash cards simultaneously as well, the only thing is that you can’t operate the slideshow from pictures on BOTH cards - it’s either/or. But it does support my 8GB SDHC card, so that’s a major plus. Realistically, 2GB is more than enough space for me - I have a couple hundred photos on it and still more than a gig left to use.
4 Stars Pleasantly Pleased!
I live overseas and lack the novelty of walking into target and viewing a product before I buy. I researched my products and decided to go with this picture frame. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money but I still wanted excellent quality. This frame is perfect. The picture quality is great, especially with outdoor pictures. I didn’t care about bells and whistles I just wanted something that held a lot of pictures, had great picture quality and was easy to use. I am very happy with this one.
just know the frame is plastic but looks very nice and it has a plug in cord, it does not run off a battery (but i wanted that feature).
You wont be disappointed!
5 Stars Perfect Christmas Gift
I am not too familiar with this kind of thing… I wasn’t sure what was “good quality” and “bad”. After reading reviews for this frame I chose to buy it for a friend for Christmas. It was very affordable compared to other frames. After they opened it we turned it on and the picture quality was great. The only two downsides that i could find were, first, you have to keep the memory card in the frame the whole time. To solve that i bought her a 2G memory card on amazon for 7.00 to go along with the frame, so she didn’t have to worry about it. Second, when reviewing pictures in “slide show” mode pictures that were vertical would not appear horizontal. However, it is possible to rotate the picture horiz. or vert. in another review mode, the rotation is not saved. Once you play the slide show again, the picture remains sideways. A solution is only take pictures horizontally that you want to view in the slide show. Overall, I would not only keep this frame in mind for further presents because it is original and great, but I’m even considering buying one for myself!!!
4 Stars Pleasantly Surprised
Update to my earlier review:
As stated, I now have the Sony frame. I received it early (it’s a Christmas gift :)) and while the other frame is great. This frame is far better. The picture quality (it has more megapixels, so I am not surprised) is superb; the features and just the design and quality of the frame is just much better. I don’t want to get into too much detail because my earlier post is lengthy enough. However, I haven’t seen a better picture frame yet. Highly recommned. Five stars!!
Earlier Review:
I recently took a trip to Costa Rica and was searching for a different manner in which to showcase my pictures. The online programs (such as Snapfish) are great, but I wanted something different :).
I’ve known about digital frames for some time; however, I really didn’t put that much thought into them. However, because Costa Rica is such a beautiful country, especially during the rainy season (thankfully it only rained hard once when we were there), the pictures, to me, for displaying them, required an extra special touch. With that in mind, I sought out to find a digital frame.
I looked at several frames and looked particularly at the frames in the store that displayed real photos — not the photos generated by the manufacturer, as they normally don’t give the true picture quality. I chose a frame, but found it difficult to get going and even more difficult to display the photos. It was frustrating. Needless to say, I returned it.
I continued searching and most of the other frames that I liked were rather pricey. Since this frame was going to be on my desk at work, I didn’t want to pay an exorbitant amount of money. However, I have to admit, I kept going back to the Sony 7″ frame, which comes with an average price of $129.00. I didn’t want to spend that much and decided to set a limit of $75 or less. Well in that price range, what I came across, didn’t seem to have what I needed and the picture quality was poor. I thought, “surprise…surprise”. Then, as I was shopping over the weekend, I stumbled across this frame, and thought, “maybe there’s hope”.
It was 7″, had a USB port (though it’s a mini one) and I loved the design of the frame. The cost: $49.99. I thought, “Hmm, this can’t be a good product. BUT, for roughly $50.00 and the option to bring it back if it doesn’t work, seemed like a win-win situation.” So I bought it and gave it a try.
Much to my surprise, it was VERY easy to load my photos using an SD card and more amazingly, how FAST the photos appeared on screen. I have a ton of photos on my SD card, and I was just flabbergasted by how quickly they appeared once I turned the frame on. Easy controls and the “Autoplay” button is a quick and easy way to get the show started. As the other reviewer stated, every time you turn back on the frame it starts from the beginning. Also, as she pointed out, I, too, am not quite sure why there’s a volume button. But being able to display one photo as if it’s a solo photo instead of part of a slide show, is another nice option to have.
Some (not all) pictures aren’t quite clear (but still clear) and the quality of the pictures is nice. Still, I must adit that since I am enjoying this frame so much and am so pleased that a $50.00 frame can provide good picture quality, I am going to purchase the Sony and do a comparison. Even if I ultimately buy the Sony frame too, I STILL would recommend this product to anyone looking for a nice entry into the digital frame world. You shouldn’t be disappointed :).
